Several weeks ago I started a small garden on the side of our house. This little plot had clearly been used as a garden in the past and seemed the ideal placement for vegetable growing in our yard due to of all the sunshine that this piece of land gets. So I went through the painstaking process of turning the soil and building it up with manure and compost. I bought seeds and planted them and watered them and watched them sprout with much delight. If this blog would let me post pictures I would. It was great. Until today. I walked outside this morning in my usual routine of checking in on things and making sure that the plants didn't need water and I was greeted with no plants. Yes, you read that right. Some little critter has eaten the ENTIRE row of lettuce, some carrots, some peas and all of my zucchinni plants. Needless to say I was quite upset and surprised. I think that tomorrow will involve a trip to the library for more tips on pest management...and back to square one again I guess...
