I feel as though there are a lot of reasons that I am so fond of the grocery store Trader Joe’s. Here are a few:
1) The food tends to be health conscious. Few items are highly processed or full of high fructose corn syrup. They even sale nitrate free lunchmeat.
2) Items sold are delicious and often quite unique. Not the same things that you could buy at any area grocery store.
3) Trader Joe’s does not have sales or specials. One does not need to time your trip there to get the item you desire at just the right time when it is “a good price.”
4) I have found the staff of our local store to be helpful and friendly
5) The people watching there is fantastic. Everyone from the socks-and-sandals software geek to the barefoot hippie with dreadlocks.
6)The Trader Joe’s in our neighborhood is walking distance from where we live and I often take the opportunity to get the extra exercise.
But in the last few weeks I have come upon another reason to foster my liking for the store. I will list it as reason number seven.
7) Trader Joe’s donates hundreds of pounds of groceries a week to the local food bank. And it isn’t just food that needs to be tossed. They send food that could have easily still been sold.
