Word on the street is that Seattle has been having some record-breaking highs. It has been a long time since I have been around 90 plus degree weather and I have to admit that I am pretty disappointed in my inability to handle the heat. Last Wednesday I even stopped by David’s office for a few hours because our house was 100 degrees (on the inside!). Whatever became of my Eastern Washington blood? Who is this strange girl who doesn’t like it a degree above 85? Alas, but I think that I am becoming more of a Pacific Northwestern girl every year that I live here. To even further demonstrate my descent into someone who calls this area home the following event happened a few evenings ago. Note that we have moved into our downstairs living space because it is cooler.
Me: (standing in front of the mirror of our downstairs bathroom and brushing my teeth) Uh…do I have a tan?
David: Sure looks like it. You look great!
Me: (pauses in cleaning my teeth to make sure the mirror is mistaken. Noting strange brown coloring to skin) I don’t tan. That’s ridiculous.
David: It’s all the running and gardening that you’ve been doing. (gives me a hug)
Me: (stands around with a toothbrush still dangling out of my mouth and a confused expression on my face)
